We create opportunities for those experiencing injury or illness to make art.
Minds + Hands is composed of three disabled artists: Dawn McLeod, a registered social worker and playwright; Cassidy Bankson, a movement-based expressive arts instructor with a background in dance; and Faye Harnest, an illustrator focused on disability art and graphic medicine.
In collaboration with The Drake’s Arts in Health Program, which promotes arts and healing for patients at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, we have created Alter Ego Amigo, a short animated video.
Alter Ego Amigo guides patients through the process of creating an alter ego that can serve as a resource through their hospital stay. It is a fun way of exploring how we want to be seen and a means of participating in life in a manner that may appear out of reach.
